Taking Centre Stage: School Performing Arts in Practice Scheme: ‘Stylish Stage: Finding the Groove and Feel Comfortable on the Stage’ Street Dance or Jazz Dance in Practice Project (2023/24 & 2024/25)

‘Stylish Stage: Finding the Groove and Feel Comfortable on the Stage’ is a year-long dance training initiative for primary and secondary school students, offering a choice between Street Dance and Jazz Dance. The program aims to help students better understand their bodies, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance communication skills through music and movement.

The program is divided into four key components.

  1. Hands-on Experience focuses on building confidence through practical dance training, helping students explore their potential and consider future careers in the arts
  2. Feel the Music connects dance with music, allowing students to interpret rhythm and express themselves physically, improving coordination and self-awareness.
  3. Dance Knowledge introduces students to the history, terminology, and cultural context of the chosen dance style, deepening their understanding and appreciation of dance.
  4. Final Performance gives students the opportunity to showcase their skills in a live performance at a professional venue, celebrating their progress with teachers, peers, and family.

By the end, students will have not only refined their dance abilities but also gained important life skills such as confidence and teamwork. The program offers students a unique chance to grow both as dancers and individuals, culminating in an unforgettable performance experience.
