Founded in 2023, Move Beyond is a dynamic dance company led by the prominent artist Angela Hang, who serves as the Artistic Director. Move Beyond is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of local dancers by offering a variety of dance trainings designed to cultivate talent. The focus of these programs lies primarily in teaching Street Dance, Jazz, and Contemporary Dance, catering to a broad audience of aspiring performers.
The professional faculty at Move Beyond comprises a diverse team of local and internationally acclaimed dancers and choreographers. Each instructor has undergone professional training and possesses extensive experience in stage performance, choreography, and a great passion in teaching. Their outstanding achievements contribute to a rich learning environment that inspires students to explore and develop their artistic potential.
In addition to training young dancers, Move Beyond is committed to promoting the art of dance within the community and schools. This initiative aims to increase public’s appreciation of dance, allowing more individuals to experience its transformative power. Ultimately, Move Beyond seeks to enhance the quality of life for the public by making dance accessible to all.
Move Beyond has collaborated with various organizations, including the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, to create impactful community programs. Notable projects include the Taking Centre Stage: School Performing Arts in Practice Scheme, as well as “Dance on E” Community Dance Project. Move Beyond strives to be a leading force in local dance education and cultural promotion, providing a vibrant platform for creative expression and opportunities for all dance enthusiasts to grow and thrive.

- Nurturing Dance Talents: Committed to discovering and cultivating the next generation of local dance artists through professional dance courses, focusing on Street Dance, Jazz, and Contemporary Dance to build a solid foundation for students.

Artistic Director

Angela HANG
Artistic Director of Move Beyond, Angela graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Modern Dance in 1991. She was awarded an overseas scholarship by the Asian Culture Council to attend the American Dance Festival in North Carolina and received training in New York for her remarkable talent. Angela then continued to equip herself to work as a professional dance artist in the US.
Angela’s genuine passion for teaching and nurturing young talents led her to found a local dance school in 2003. Under her artistic direction, SDZ has organized the annual dance showcase and dance festival, both have become mega dance events in Hong Kong. In 2007 Angela co-organized the professional dancer development programme, The Showbiz Project. In 2024, SDZ’s 2023-24 18dART – Community Arts Scheme in Eastern District – Dance on E Community Dance Project was awarded Outstanding Achievement in Dance Education or Community Dance at the 25th Hong Kong Dance Award.
She regularly serves as a judge in the most prestigious competitions in Hong Kong. Known for her dynamic style and cutting-edge insight into the dance field in Hong Kong, Angela is in demand as a guest judge in most prestigious competitions and as a guest instructor (Jazz and Jazz Funk) and choreographer for various artists’ concerts and performances.
Angela’s contributions and achievements in the dance community have been recognized by her peers. Since 2016, she has been invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) to serve as a member of the Arts Form Panel (Dance and Cross-Media Arts), and from 2020 to 2022, she served as the Chairperson of this committee, primarily providing strategic advice on performing arts programs to the LCSD. In 2017, she was invited to join the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, currently the Vice Chairperson continuing to promote the development of the local dance. In the same year, she was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Home Affairs Department in recognition of her efforts in promoting the development of cultural and artistic activities over the years.
